Loss

Believe it or not you just can’t say this word without a fall of tempo in your flow. Loss. In these difficult times of pandemic loss is the only word that is common to every soul irrespective of the city or the country. Everyone is losing someone. There’s a father fighting for desperate breaths unknown to the fact that his son is no more. There’s a son who is still in grief but gets updated about the availability of a bed at a hospital several days after his father’s death. There’s a man who once held a prestigious post at his job but lost his life in the parking lot after waiting for a bed for hours. A man is writhing on the hospital floor since he can’t catch a string of breath, agitated and burning.

Now we know the real meaning of Loss in its entirety. Earlier we only knew what a loss of phone or loss of keys felt like. But now we know what a Loss actually feels like. A loss is a strategically defined plot. It hits you. You deny it. It awaits your acceptance. The moment you acknowledge it, it seeps right through you. It penetrates the nerves and crawls in the blood sucking up every inch of emotion from you. Slowly it travels to your heart and brain, where it had always wanted to be. And finally lays down it’s tired paws. Now you’re hollow. Emotion doesn’t hit. Grief doesn’t strike. There’s loss everywhere. It leaves you numb.
